Almost two years ago, Lee was running across the platform at Waterloo Station to catch a Eurostar train to an important meeting in Paris. She lost her footing and dropped her purse scattering her contents across the station. Matt rushed to help her gather everything. Lee thanked him profusely and said she had to catch a train for Paris. Matt picked up one of her business cards and said "well hurry and catch your train but I’m keeping this to call you for a date." She took one look at his kind eyes and knew this was the man she was going to marry.

OK, that isn’t exactly how it happened.

The truth is Matt and Lee were both fed up with the dating scene and have never met anyone in a crowded train station so they both put profiles of themselves onto an online dating website. One night, Matt went out for a few pints and decided to email some women but only “the really hot ones”. Luckily for Lee she fit that criteria. His email made her laugh so she replied back. They ended up emailing for a few days and finally met for a pint at their local pub. The dates continued, her friends met his friends, he introduced her to his family*, and Matt met Lee’s parents in Paris for a holiday. After a year they moved in together. Then Matt came home with Lee this past Christmas and met her brothers. Deciding they were incredibly happy together, Matt proposed in Las Vegas on December 27th, 2007.

Now, you are about to watch them begin their own “happily ever after.”

*The best and TRUE part of our story is this “small world” coincidence: After a few months of dating, Matt brought Lee to his brother Luke’s birthday party, where she met Luke’s wife, Louise. Louise mentioned she had been to Chicago. Lee asked, “Where in Chicago did you stay?” and Louise replied, “Naperville.” So Lee asked, “Who do you know in Naperville? To which Louise answered, “the Wilcox’s". Lee said, “ My God, you’re Suzy Wilcox’s pen pal, aren’t you?” Louise said, “Yes! Which means you are Suzy’s friend who just moved to London!”

Louise and Luke couldn’t believe Matt’s new girlfriend knew Louise’s old friend Suzy. So, the long of the short of it is that even if Matt hadn’t gotten drunk and emailed Lee late one Saturday night, she probably would have met him eventually anyway. It was destiny!
